A genus of 200 species of small tropical and subtropical trees and shrubs (Rubiaceae). They have opposite or whorled glossy, dark green leaves and large, handsome white or cream-colored flowers, which are often deliciously fragrant. G. jasminoides, commonly known as Cape jasmine, is grown in frost-free climates outdoors, as an indoor/outdoor plant in cold climates.
